Cool Amharic Keyboard (“the App”) is an on-device keyboard that helps you type Amharic and English. We take your privacy seriously.
1) What data the App can access
Because this App is a keyboard (Input Method), Android allows it to access what you type in order to provide keyboard functionality. This is normal for all keyboards.
2) What data we collect
We do not collect or transmit your typing to any server.
The App may process and store the following locally on your device (depending on what features you use):
A) Typed text (processing)
- The App processes what you type to:
- convert phonetic typing into Amharic characters
- show word suggestions
- We do not send your typed text anywhere.
B) Personalized suggestions (optional, on-device)
- If you enable personalized suggestions, the App may store a small list of words you frequently type or choose from suggestions to improve results.
- This data stays on your device only.
C) Clipboard history (on-device)
- If you use the clipboard manager, the App can store:
- up to 7 recent clipboard items and up to 4 pinned items (based on the features you enabled)
- Clipboard items are stored only on your device, and never uploaded.
D) App settings
- The App stores preferences like theme selection, haptics, and onboarding completion status on your device.
3) Passwords and sensitive fields
In password/secure fields, the App is designed to disable features such as:
- suggestions
- clipboard UI/history features
- personalized learning
This reduces exposure of sensitive input.
4) What we share
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data.
The App does not send your keystrokes, clipboard history, or suggestion data to us or to third parties.
5) Internet access
Typing works offline. The App does not require internet to function as a keyboard.
If the App includes links (for example, to Google Play pages or Telegram), those are handled by external services and their privacy policies apply when you choose to open them.
6) Data retention and deletion
All stored data is kept locally on your device.
You can delete it by:
- clearing the clipboard history inside the App (if available), and/or
- clearing the App’s storage from Android Settings, and/or
- uninstalling the App (removes locally stored data).
7) Security
We use reasonable measures to keep local data stored within the App’s private storage on your device. However, no method of storage is 100% secure.
8) Children’s privacy
The App is not designed to collect personal data from children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
9) Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted within the App (or where this policy is published) with an updated effective date.
